Quiet as the night
A majestic bird in flight
I see you soar away
But there’s a season to go
And a season to come back
To stay
For there are scores to settle
And debts to pay....
Can you take back all the moments
On which we wrote our names
All the sighs and treasured whispers
That ignited those ice blue flames
Each dawn that mingled with dusk
In exuberant insanity
Every dream that traversed time
To merge in eternity
Can you split up all those gasping breaths
That blended on stormy seas
Can you extract your enticing rhythms
From our shared symphonies?
But I doubt you can...
There’s no place far enough
On this earth and beyond
Where you can escape, to restrain
Your rebel soul and its song
From suffusing my fantasy
From colouring my skies
From dancing behind
My sleep darkened eyes
From singing me rhymes
From scenting my breeze
From colliding with dreams
Permeating my weaves.
So I linger on
Within the unseen crease
Expectantly
Inking our transient poetries...
